Renal artery angioplasty and stent

If your renal artery is partially or completely blocked you may be recommended to do angioplasty and stenting. This procedure is where a catheter is inserted through a small incision and is guided through your blood vessels to your renal artery. A balloon at the end of the catheter is expanded in order the flatten the plaque against the walls of your artery. Then a tiny metal mesh tube, called a stent may be inserted to hold the artery open.
